The Full Story
The First Location
Our story begins back in 1979 when the original owner, Neil DeVivo, opened the first location on the East coast in Norwalk, CT. He had an idea that has in more recent years become normalized, but at the time it was fairly revolutionary: he wanted to open a pet store that would offer the best, healthiest, natural products on the market for pets with a high focus on ingredients and brands that focused on quality over quantity.
Growing Our Company
Neil grew the company by 15+ stores and while doing so at the urging of his son, opened the first Arizona location in Scottsdale in 2007. There was definitely a need for a natural pet store in the area, so we grew pretty quickly. So quickly in fact that some major changes were implemented. Andy Avigdor, who started as a sales associate back on the East coast and worked his way up, became a co-owner of the company. He and Neil sold the East coast stores to better focus on the Arizona locations.
Growing in Arizona
Once we opened our first Arizona location in Scottsdale, we quickly began expanding to service the entire Valley. One location lead to a second location, which lead to a third location, and we now have eight stores across the Valley in Glendale, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Chandler. Over the last 15 years, My Pet Market has flourished and become the Valley’s favorite local stop for healthy, natural, and holistic pet foods and supplies. We are very grateful to local Phoenicians for driving our success here in the South West and look forward to seeing our customers and their pets thrive every day with the help of our products and incredible staff.
Our Newest Store
We are always looking for more ways to serve our customers and we are proud to announce that we have opened a new store in South Scottsdale near the heart of Old Town. We're just a mile down the road from the Chaparral Dog Park so bring your pup down after a romp at the park so we can say hi! We're at the corner of Hayden and Chaparral in with Safeway and Randy's.
